Smit Salvage

The general cargo ship Isla Bartolome ran aground at coast of Isla Puna Island in Ecuador. The accident happened shortly after leaving Guayaquil en route to Galapagos Island with 160 containers of merchandise goods and foods. The freighter stuck in reef and suffered breaches of the hull, followed by massive water ingress and partial submerging. VANDERPERS MARITIME BV have been invited by the awarded salvage company to assist and advise in any matters concerning safeguarding the good health of salvors, aswell as to monitor emitting toxic or flammable gasses if so during the operations.
